Note Card Confessions
For my note card confession I chose to do research on Dwight D. Eisenhower. I thought he would be a good example to use for a United States history classroom. Eisenhower was from Abilene, Kansas. He was also a famous World War II general that led he attack on the beaches of Normandy, France during D-Day. Eisenhower's family moved to Kansas in 1892. He was raised in Abilene, KS. His parents taught him strong work ethic growing up. After high school he worked with his dad at a local creamery. After that he joined the United States Military Academy. Eisenhower married his wife after he graduated from the U.S. Military Academy. Their first born son tragically died from scarlet fever. Dwight and his wife were then blessed with a second son. He received a promotion to Major after World War I. He was a general in World War II after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. He was appointed Supreme Commander in North Africa. He was responsible for planning Operation Overlord. He led United States forces onto Normandy on D-Day. This led to the United States defeating the Axis powers. Dwight D. Eisenhower was then elected president of the United States in 1952. The election was a landslide. He was also re-elected in 1956. Note card confessions would be a good use for researching historical figures in a secondary social studies classroom.
